A quorum was declared. Meeting called to order by Harley Parson. 3/19/03 meeting minutes were approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
Treasurer’s Report - $6,717.85
Membership Committee - Bill sent out the new membership letter to 17 people. The membership committee needs to get a letter for existing members. Also a welcome letter. Bill has new brochures, plans to distribute to bike shops. Harley suggested a letter re: how our money is being spent Sprockids - Tom stated the insurance is final on Sprockids agreement. $187.50 for liability insurance. He recommends one person get a rider to cover the trailer on their personal policy, Harley will do so.
$320 logo to be installed on both sides and back, with SWIMBA.org underneath as discussed. Chris Cook moved, Todd Olson second, motion passed. Lorien mentioned the Albertson's grant request for $8,000 which has a fee for the logo in it.
Shafer Butte - Chris Cook, Dan Meeker, Dave Beck will met with Tim Breuer 4/22 at 6:00 p.m. at BLM with Larry Trip and Laurie Fink of the Forest Service. Next action item is MOU for trail maintenance so we have authorization to work in the Shafer Butte area. Will let Forest Service know SWIMBA has looked at the trail plan and the design will include horses and hikers.
Tour de Fat - 6/8/03, Sunday, Julia Davis Park, same location. We will have the classic bike show, will have to purchase the beer at wholesale prices, probably about 22 kegs at $100 each.
NEW BUSINESS:
Cycle Idaho - Karlo Maalouf presented, dates are 6/28-6/29, it is in its 6th year. He is looking for an organization to take over for next year. They have donated $1,600-1,800 per year to the Youth Ranch. Sponsors in past have included Cliff Bar, Idaho Screen Print, Idaho Mountain Touring (phone number), Southwest (tickets), Tomcat Printing (flyers), Tates Rent (water coolers), Radio station Eagle 96 (free air ads). Karlo and his wife have been running the event. He would like help with details this year. Chris Hahn suggests SWIMBA help out, David Law-Smith is interested. Leo is interested next year. Todd suggests trying it out this year. Karlo will add a SWIMBA membership option to the flyer.
Bike Week - Ryan Henbest and Tracy Wilson presented, dates are 5/5-5/10. Events include Boise Café bagels on Monday, bike ride from Barber Park on Saturday. They want help with rides and sponsorship, $150-$250 for logo presence depending on size of logo. Leo suggested an email to the SWIMBA group. Harley suggested having the Sprockids Trailer at Camel Back Park and logo sponsorship. Todd suggested a booth. There is a conflict with Coyote Classic on Highway 55. Lorien suggested perhaps bringing people back to the Camel Back event. Todd moved for a $250 sponsorship, Chris Guill seconded and motion passed. Boisebikeweek.com is the web site.
Tending Foothills, 5/3 - Chris Cook is committed to crew leader Bob’s Trail, double stream crossing, some cribbing and fill and moving trail. Need another cribbing project leader down lower. 9:00 at Fort Boise Community Center. Crew leaders be there at 8:00 a.m.
Coyote Classic - Cynthia Gibson and Davey Moore are in charge, part of Knobby Tire series. They will donate part of the proceeds to Sprockids. Minimum sponsorship is $250 for the back, $150 for small logo on front of flyer. The course is off Highway 55 by Shadow Valley Golf Course.
Discussion held re: race sponsorship and expectation that all races would be sponsored if we sponsor one, that we seem flush now, but not forever, whether we could get members from it. Todd moved for $150 sponsorship, Chris Hahn seconded, motion passed.
Cynthia stated they need a volunteer coordinator for the Knobby Tire Series.
National Trails Day, 6/7 - Rex Arnett will be at the Lowman Ranger District, it is proposed to do the Julie Creek trail out of Deadwood. SWIMBA will participate.
Boise Parks & Rec - Have requested input on what people want them to do. The letter from David Selvidge will go into the minutes. Tom stated Parks & Rec is revising their comprehensive plan. Harley encourages free riders and racers to give input.
New clubs - Chris Cook will go to Idaho Falls 5/31 and Driggs 6/22 to get clubs started.
