Treasures Report –
2003 End of year Balance = $7,574.53
2004 - $15 membership and $300 donation from the Boise Y striders
So far SWIMBA is committed to $740 to be spent on Trail Tools and a Storage Shed

The Annual IMBA Club membership is due for $60 covers 100 or more members – SWIMBA has Insurance coverage for 125 members – This is a separate annual premium.

The Board approved $250 to start a Sprockids Scholarship fund.

- Willow Lane Dirt Jump Park. The Draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Boise City and SWIMBA was presented for board review. Tom Baskin will take a closer look at the legal language before bringing it back to the board for approval.

$5,000 is needed to complete the project as outlined in Judd De Vall’s preliminary plan.  At $400/day for labor, 10 days would cost $4,000. The rest would be needed for Airfare, transportation in Boise, per diem for food and housing for Judd.

Harley proposed that SWIMBA commit $1,600 with the condition that another $1,600 in matching funds can be raised from Tamarack resort. Another $500 possible Grant may come from IMBA/Kona.

A motion unanimously passed that SWIMBA support the re-construction of the Willow Lane Dirt Jump Park in concept as outlined in the draft MOU, commit $1,600 as long as matching funds can be found, and make sure that Boise City provide signage at the facility recognizing SWIMBA.

If $3,200 were raised, the project could move forward as planed for the March Spring Break. Fewer days would be scheduled to accommodate the reduced funds.

- Tour De Fat date has been moved to August – The board will consider the newly formed Treasure Valley Cycling Alliance (TVCA) as the second benefactor. Greg Bearce and Ryan Henbest will present the Mission, goals and list of board members at the Feb. meeting. Anyone may attend their meetings – Every other Monday – next meeting Feb. 2, 2004 Flicks Theater upstairs meeting room 7 pm-8:30.

- Membership Services. Chris Cook reported that a web site service is available for $10/month that could take care of the bulk of the member services. Chris was directed to provide a web link for board review of the service. The board will discuss the details at the Feb. meeting.

New Business:
-SWIMBA as Club of the Month appeared in the outdoor section of the Idaho Statesman. Roger Philips of the Statesman, had contacted Harley to discuss this as well as a feature article being planned for March titled “Is Boise ready for Free Riding?” Greg Bearce gave a description and definition of free riding read from his notes on the speech he gave at the annual SWIMBA members meeting.

Roger Philips is invited to join the SWIMBA free riders and shoot photos on a “poker run” that would visit a series of back yards in the North End that have challenging skills obstacles set up.

National Trails Day June 5, 2004 –SWIMBA has been invited to join a service project in cooperation with Sylvia Cooper of REI. Harley will be in contact with land managers to determine a suitable project.

Cycle Idaho was to be the same day and so is being moved to June 12-13, 2004

A meeting with the city of Eagle, The Rotary Club and Ada County Parks is being organized by Tim Breuer to discuss s Free Ride Park at the skate board park off old highway 55. The date is Feb. 15, for the invite only event. Harley will report.

The Boise Foothills land acquisition coordinator, Paul Woods would like to make a presentation at the Feb. 18 meeting to introduce the new Ridge-to-rivers trail coordinator.
Bill Peck is going to Romania as a Peace Crop volunteer. Bill noted that is was not his vast business experience that got him chosen, but his volunteerism with SWIMBA that impressed the peace Corps selection committee. He hopes to establish an IMBA club there as there is little or no bicycles in the country. We wish Bill good luck, God’s speed and hopes he keeps in touch. Bill has been a fantastic asset to SWIMBA and his presence will be missed.

Meeting adjourned.
