SWIMBA MEETING MINUTES 8/18/04 Attending: BOARD MEMBERS Chris Cook, President Dave Beck, Vice President Tom Foote, Treasurer Margie Rosenberg, Secretary Greg Bearce MEMBERS Kristi Regotti Lorien Lightfield Todd Olson Note: Sign up sheet was not given to secretary. OLD BUSINESS:
Tour de Fat – Todd stated permits are in order. More volunteers are needed, need help setting up and taking down, ride leaders and sweepers and SWIMBA booth people. Rides discussed are Corrals and Shanes. Bob Roehl will lead the cruiser ride. Food vendors are moving into the beer garden this year. Recycling will be handled by Kristi Regotti. TVCA will sell the merchandise. Paul Woods will bring signs for the SWIMBA booth. Beer ticket sales volunteers are covered. Slogan suggestions will be e-mailed to the board and a vote will be taken. Willow Lane – Discussion held over SWIMBA’s role, responsibility, liability and insurance, and concerns about same. Paul Woods stated SWIMBA will work as volunteers, will be invited to do so by the city, under the direction of the City of Boise and Jerry Pugh. Hyde Park Street Fair – Sprockids will man the bike corral. Volunteers are requested. NEW BUSINESS: West Mountain Trail – Members indicate they don’t want to tell agencies how to do their job, but don’t object to offering assistance. Chris Cook will amend his letter and submit it to the board for approval. Discussion was held regarding our area of influence. This will be an agenda item at the next meeting. Stickers – Ted presented bids for outdoor SWIMBA stickers made of reflective material for marking trails, $1.25 each for 100, $.85 each for 250. Ted indicated Tim Breuer is more keen on SWIMBA having information on the kiosk and trail sign at Seaman’s Gulch. SWIMBA would like Parks & Rec to let us sticker trail markers on trails we take care of. It will be brought to Parks & Rec board and to Tim Breuer. Ted proposed a general purpose sticker, discussion held about clear type($1.00 each, plastic at $.75 each or generic with white background. Ted will get a bid on 500 3/3 standard stickers and send to the board for review. Foothills Trail Expansion – Paul Wood talked about the 287 acres purchased from the Hawkins family which will connect with Military Reserve, the additional land at Aldape Summit , Table Rock, 5 Mile Creek and Pole Cat Gulch Reserve at the end of Collister. He wants to hear public comment, and will need volunteer efforts and dollars for these trails SWIMBA mechanism of contributing funds was discussed so that SWIMBA funds wouldn’t be “locked up” pending approval process, etc. The budget process begins 10/1, he is asking for additional funds and would like a $5,000 commitment.
