Meeting called to order by Chris Cook. OLD BUSINESS: Treasurer's Report by Tom Foote - $3,357.89 plus $245.45 in Pay Pal account. Spring Yurt Trip 5/14 & 5/15 - 20 people are signed up. Earth Day Table and User Conflict - Zimo's 4/25 article was discussed, also articles by Dr. Collins. Bob will work with George's, Dobbiaco, Jody Thatcher from Tamarack, Dave Thomas - IMT and Lactic Acid to talk to racing teams about riding etiquette. Chris Cook will check with Dave Gordon re: specific signs on Hull's Gulch re: yielding. Jerry suggested connecting top of Sidewinder with Trail 5 to give more options. Chris will contact Zimo about another Statesman article, Rachel suggested a letter to the editor, also talking to Dan Kouba and the Weekly. Adam Winstral, Jodie Thatcher and Matt Bullard volunteered for the table. Adopt a Trail - Mike Burkhart discussed his work. On National Trails Day he will put a group out on 10 trails. Chris will e-mail Dave Gordon. National Trails Day - Tom suggests census again. Harley will talk to Dave Gordon. Shafer Butte - Dave is working with National Park Service on the master plan for trails, working with Dave Gordon on design of trails, putting trails in and around the resort. Master plan is due within 2 years of last October. Minutes - Approved for January, February and March. SWIMBA Brochure - The Castle Rock photo on the brochure was discussed. Board members have received comments/criticism from others since it is not in our area of impact. The board decided to change the photo before re-printing. All members are to submit potential photos. NEW BUSINESS: Tom Noll, Southwest Idaho Equestrian Trail and Distance Riders Club discussed his group's ideas for the Wilson Creek area and proposed working with SWIMBA toward common goals. SWIMBA concurred with working together, Tom will work with his group toward keeping certain areas non-motorized. Chris Cook will put an article in the next newsletter. Keep Single Track Single - Chris discussed a brochure and strategy, why it is so important. Ted will do the brochure with a fall deadline. Creation of new trails when passing instead of yielding is a problem. Technique for yielding was discussed, similar to what Fruita is doing. Brochure will be targeted to all users. Tim Rosenthal of Ambassadors/Rangers was mentioned as a possible guest. Board Member Training - Harley suggested retaining the services of an organization he knows that helps non-profits with their goals. There is an all day course on strategic planning and a 3-5 hours course on board development, $1,000-$1,200 and $500 respectively. Discussion was held, with a number of board members feeling the money would be better spent on projects and that the board has enough competent members to do this strategizing itself. More information on the organization that Harley mentioned was also requested, with Harley to provide it. The matter was tabled for discussion another time. Annual Meeting - 6/15 at Smoky Mountain Pizza at Park Center. Harley wants to elect officers that night, but it was mentioned that is not in accordance with By-Laws. Meeting was adjourned.
